Dear TL builders,

a few days ago Karl Berry forwarded to you a small package cxx-test-1.0.

The purpose was, to test a new mechanism to link C++ programs with a static
libstdc++ in such a way that one can still use libtool.

It is important to test this new mechanism as soon as possible on all
different types of build systems, in order to avoid problems later on near
the TL 2009 release date.

Unfortunately, that first version had problems when using additional
(uninstalled or system) libraries.

There is now a new version 1.1 available from
 	ftp://ftpth.mppmu.mpg.de/pub/peb/TLtests/cxx-test-1.1.tar.bz2
 	ftp://ftpth.mppmu.mpg.de/pub/peb/TLtests/cxx-test-1.1.tar.gz

I have tested this for

 	arch compiler	cxx-test-1.1 result

i386-linux	gcc-3.4.6	static and shared OK
x86_64-linux	gcc-3.4.6	static and shared OK

and would appreciate to obtain feedback (on this list) for as many different
build systems as possible, most important for those that will be used for
the TL binary build. There is a README with detailed instructions.
