[pdftex] href-ing to pdf-file not possible?

Hi,

I just figured that the problem is somewhat related to defining the
hyperbaseurl, because the following works:

\usepackage{hyperref}
\hyperbaseurl{http://my.internal.server/base/location/}
\href{http://my.internal.server/base/location/subdirectory/file.pdf}{linked
text}

i.e. despite of defining a hyperbaseurl (that is indeed used by all other
href's to html-files) a href to a pdf-file ignores that definition and
expects the full path. 
Weird, but it works.
