[OS X TeX] converting crossref

thanks for the replies.
Unfortunately, I do not know AppleScipt well enough to just write  
that script. Since I am under a little pressure (deadline for thesis  
upcomming) I ended up using a very inelegant workaround:
using the field copy-swap script in BibDesk I copied the important  
fields to empty fields, deleted the crossref entry and then moved the  
stuff back to where it rightfully belongs. Was a lot faster than  
doing all by hand but still unreliable and crude enough to make  
"learn AppleScript" the number 1 on my do-after-thesis list...
