Boris and others, here are my answers.

> (1) who you are,

I am Jim Hefferon. I am a college Math professor. I write books that are Free, including a Linear Algebra and an Intro to Proofs.

> (2) what is your education experience,

I teach Math and Theoretical Computer Science to undergrads.

> (3) what is your TeX experience,

I write my books in LaTeX (have to try to ConTeXt soon).

> (4) what do you expect from the group,

Any thoughts would be great.

I would like to develop lessons in LaTeX and maybe other TeX topics. I am writing something up in Django and anticipate asking for feedback (I did a lot of Django a couple of years ago but I am finding even just a few years leads to a lot of changes here).

The idea is to associate the lessons with TUG and make it so an undergrad professor could assign them to students, and then get some certification that the student succeeded. That would, I hope, expand the number of people involved with the TeX family, and also raise the profile of TUG as a going community.

Jim
