[twg-tds] font map and encoding files

Great idea.

Since I don't know this: May somebody please clarify the difference
between enc files used by ttf2{tfm,pk} and pdftex? syntax / semantic? 

In Thomas' proposal, the map file pose no problems since the programs
can have different subdirectories. But what about the enc files?
texmf/fontenc/{ttf,type1} doesn't seem to be appropriate, are they?
