Or better, I should have said, the current proposal from Justin's
document, something like AMS-LaTeX's \boldsymbol command that goes
into a \mathchoice{\hbox{...}}... and wholesale changes all math fams
to point to bold fonts instead of nonbold fonts. The \meaning approach
is not so robust.
