design mistake? definitely not! the "back" in the names should
be a clue -- the similar signs are deliberately reversed.
i haven't the foggiest notion what they mean, but they wouldn't
be there if they hadn't been requested.
i agree that the similars should be nice and shapely. anyone
who's tried to do this will realize it's not all that easy.
i do think that more than one person was involved in creating
these fonts.
anyhow, these shapes are not/should not be geometrics.
