Just a couple of centimes:
8 different sizes for all sizeable accents. Is that not
enough?
Well. I was using hats and checks in mathematics, which was fine until
I started producing examples in which they were applied to multi-letter
identifiers. So, I decided that I *needed* wider versions (and a
widecheck, which didn't exist). After a lot of hassle, and some help from
Alan, I seem to recall, I had the necessary MF code. It was *exactly* what
I had wanted in a font. But the results looked dreadful.
Chastened, I think that 8 sizes = more than enough.
