TUG 2026 will be held at the Alt Hotel Calgary East Village in Calgary (Canada). Information about traveling from/to the airport (YYC) is on a separate page. This page has general information about the city and area.

Currency

• Local currency is the Canadian dollar (CAD).
• Approximate exchange rates: USD 1 = CAD 1.38 (CAD 1 = USD .72);
  EUR 1 = CAD 1.61 (CAD 1 = EUR .61).
• Prices on the TUG web site are in US dollars, not Canadian. Prices on the hotel site, or other Canadian sites, are naturally in Canadian dollars.
• Credit cards (both chip-and-pin and tap) are universally accepted, even with smaller vendors. Canadian cash is also universally accepted.

• Canmore (1h drive), Banff (1h30), and Lake Louise (2h) are popular mountain towns.
• The Royal Tyrrell Museum (1h30 drive) is a dinosaur museum located in a deep valley in the badlands.
• The Torrington Gopher Hole Museum (1h15 drive) is a single-room museum featuring nearly 100 real gophers posed in various dioramas.
• The Calgary Zoo (3km walk) is a world-class zoo, with a large “Wild Canada” section that lets you see the local wildlife close up.
• Studio Bell (1km walk) is a large music museum.
• Inglewood Bird Sanctuary (4km walk) is a large urban bird sanctuary with extensive walking trails.
