TUG 2026 will be held at the Alt Hotel Calgary East Village. Tourist information about Calgary is on a separate page. This page is about getting from/to the airport.
General information: Calgary is in Canada, the province of Alberta. The Calgary airport code is YYC. Taxis, rideshares and public buses, as well as rental cars, are available to get from the airport to our hotel. The hotel, and city center, is about 18 kilometers (11 miles) from the airport.
Documents needed:
In all cases, you should check the Canadian government website for official information before making travel plans.

Where to connect: If you are travelling from the US, it is generally better to connect in an American airport than a Canadian one. This is because you clear US customs inside Canada, so a US connection means that you will always clear customs at the beginning/end of your journey, while a Canadian connection means that you will always clear customs in the middle of your journey, which is riskier if your flight gets delayed.
Conversely, if you are arriving from outside the US, it is generally better to connect in a Canadian airport, because US airports do not have international zones, meaning that passengers connecting in the US must clear American customs.
Of course, a direct flight is always better, and non-optimal connections are still workable.
