$Id: INSTALL-sys-windows.txt 373 2023-01-21 22:36:22Z karl $ (public domain) The steps below install the Lucida OpenType font distribution from TUG on your system, where they can be used with any application supporting OpenType fonts, as well as the LuaTeX and XeTeX extensions of TeX. This documentation file is for Windows (macOS and other Unix systems have their own documentation files). OpenType fonts are supported in Windows 2000 and later. 1) Download the zip file from TUG via the url given to you after ordering. 2) Unzip the archive in a convenient location; any directory will do if you aren't using TeX. If you are using TeX, the recommended directory is the "local texmf" tree; see INSTALL-TeX.txt for details on that. 3) In Vista and Windows 7: select the Lucida*.otf files, and then right-click and choose "Install". (To select more than one font, hold down the CTRL key and click each font.) In older versions of Windows: go to Start > Settings > Control Panel (on XP there is no "Settings"), then double-click the "Fonts" folder, then choose File > Install New Font, then select the fonts to install (via the Drives and Folders lists), then check the box "Copy fonts to the Fonts folder", and finally click OK. 4) To test: browsers, office applications, etc., should now show the Lucida OT fonts as an option. See INSTALL-TeX.txt for testing with TeX. (See README.txt for additional documentation, contact information, legalities, and more.)
