Notes on installation of Y&Y on Windows 7.

Up to and including Windows XP SP2 and Windows XP X64 (which is
really just a Windows Server 2003 system) Y&Y installs without
a problem using the normal method for both the fonts and the
TeX/LaTeX system itself. The fonts should be installed using
the "Install Fonts in Windows 2000 Pro" method, not any of the
methods that involve installing and using ATM (the Adobe Type
Manager).

For Windows 7 (and perhaps Vista as well?) the procedure has to
change. Installing the fonts by right-clicking on the disc icon
and asking the fonts to be installed using the Windows 2000 Pro
method will seemingly work, as long as you don't reboot the
machine. As soon as you re-boot however you will find that the
fonts were not really installed at all.

The regular Y&Y TeX & LaTeX install will still proceed as
normal and will successfully install the Y&Y TeX & LaTeX package.

The fonts on Windows 7 are installed in a completely different
manner than on all previous systems, which is probably why the
normal install no longer works.

Instead of using the automated install, you will need install
the fonts manually. In order to do this, you will need to find
all of the .pfm files on the install disk, gather them together
in one spot, eliminate the doubles, and then install them. For
the mathtime fonts, there are about 40 pfm files you will need
to install. While you are at it, you can also install the pfm
version of the cm fonts, which are freely available. There are
about 94 cm-related pfm files.

Once you have installed all of this, your Y&Y installation
should work as it always has.
