those are renamed-file tfms -- berry naming scheme and all that.

berthold's always been a stickler for not renaming files -- one of his
least useful (but none the less frequent) responses on c.t.t, to
people who were having troublw getting berry names right, was "you
wouldn't have this problem if you were using y&y tex".  which is true,
but hardly useful.
