[Xy-pic] pdftex and xy-pic problem

Hi,

Having got pdflatex working fine with xy-pic, I'm now looking
at pdftex. The following doesn't work, but I don't know why. It works
if I wrap it as latex.

I'm running TeX-Live 2003 and pdftex drivers from the xy-pic archive.
