[Xy-pic] xy-pic

I am trying to be better with xy-pic. But this is very confusing to me:

\[\begin{xy} 
0,*++{xxXxx}*\frm{-}="a",
-(0,25)*+++{xxXxx}*\frm{-}="x",
"a";"x" **\crv{}?*\dir{>},
\end{xy}\]

Very simple stuff here above, basically two boxes.
But it is the connecting line which is interesting.
The line is hitting into the boxes.
But if in place of (0,25) I say (1,25), you will see 
a dramatic improvement in the connecting line.

Am I doing something wrong here? Thanks.
