If I set,

\XeTeXlinebreaklocale="ja-JP"
\XeTeXlinebreakskip=0pt plus 1pt minus 0pt

even an individual kanji can be 'selected', 'copied' and 'pasted',
even in the case of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.
