After some tests, I found the following:

It depends on the type of Japanese font used.

(1) Not embed Japanese font
    There is no crash.
    The resulting PDF is fine.

(2) Embed TrueType Japanese font
    There is no crash.
    The resulting PDF is fine.

(3) Embed OpenType Japanese font
    The crash occurs.

I suspect your case is (1) or (2).
In the case of (3), font->used_glyphs, a new data
introduced by Jiang, may be broken.
