[XeTeX] unicode issue: "XeLaTeX - Symbola font breaks pages on my printer"

Upon further investigation, I see the problem was with �� - #1f6b4.  A
good clue is that it's in a more advanced Plane.  For now, I've worked
around it by including a PDF image of the symbol.  But surely there's
a way to get the symbol included from my Symbola font?
