[XeTeX] Adjust paragraph skip

Hi,
I am using newline characters to separate paragraphs (I mean text
paragraphs, not the \paragraph block).
It works, but how can I adjust skip between paragraphs separated in this
way?
I tried \setlength\parskip{1.5\baselineskip plus 10pt minus 5pt} but it
didn't work.
