I am working on a newish computer and have never installed Linux
Libertine via apt or KDE's font installer. Whatever I have, came with
TexLive 2012. This morning tlmgr updated libertine and auto-removed
libertineotf and with it "Linux Libertine O". XeLaTeX now complains
that 'The font "Linux Libertine O" cannot be found'. So that solves
the problem for now :) Accordingly, fc-list -v Linux\ Libertine\ O |
grep file, returns no results, even after restoring libertineotf.

fc-list -v Linux\ Libertine | grep file:

        file: "/usr/local/texlive/2012/texmf-dist/fonts/type1/public/newtx/zxlzi.pfb"(s)
        file: "/usr/local/texlive/2012/texmf-dist/fonts/type1/public/newtx/zxlri.pfb"(s)
        file: "/usr/local/texlive/2012/texmf-dist/fonts/type1/public/newtx/zxlr.pfb"(s)
        file: "/usr/local/texlive/2012/texmf-dist/fonts/type1/public/newtx/fxlzi-7letters.pfb"(s)
        file: "/usr/local/texlive/2012/texmf-dist/fonts/type1/public/newtx/fxlri-5letters.pfb"(s)
        file: "/usr/local/texlive/2012/texmf-dist/fonts/type1/public/newtx/zxlz.pfb"(s)
        file: "/usr/local/texlive/2012/texmf-dist/fonts/type1/public/newtx/fxlzi-5letters.pfb"(s)
        file: "/usr/local/texlive/2012/texmf-dist/fonts/type1/public/newtx/fxlri-7letters.pfb"(s)

After "(sudo) fc-cache -v" I see these lines:
/usr/local/texlive/2012/texmf-dist/fonts/type1/public/libertine:
skipping, existing cache is valid: 10 fonts, 0 dirs
/usr/local/texlive/2012/texmf-dist/fonts/opentype/public/libertine:
skipping, existing cache is valid: 14 fonts, 0 dirs

Am I right in the assumption that both types are installed on my
computer, but that the open type version is not being served or seen
by XeTeX?

Best,
Arash
