The thing is if you read the manuals you wonder! I did not say that, but reading the maual you see you can set a font/family with all kinds of feature including the
simple old bold and italic. I wonder if textit had gone away! No where is it stated in the manual that you do not need to set up the font families. I t is, also, not me
many that I try to nudge into the TeX-world have the same experience.

Good point, except micro-type goe sway beyond Gutenbergs resolution!
