[XeTeX] Problem with includegraphics of pdf file version 1.5 which was fixed when converting to version 1.4

I'm also getting this error, but I can't figure out how to use gs to make the conversion.  I see 
ghostscript's manual here
    http://www.ghostscript.com/doc/current/Use.htm
but don't see any parameter to change the pdf version.  What was your command line for the conversion?
