10.5 is the last OS that works on PPC. In 10.7 they dropped support for PPC.
10.6 is the last OS that works on i386. Not that I expect it, but I
would not be surprised if Appled would drop support for i386 in 10.8
(or whatever their next OS version will be), but they will almost
certainly drop it two versions ahead from current one. That leaves
approximately 3 years time to adapt the code to remain usable.
