Since you are using Mac, use the character palette (among other options) 
--- see attached image. Recently, various ways of getting the glyph from 
the palette into a document were discussed. One way you might try:

-- click on the lower right corner of the palette where it says: "Insert 
with font";
-- then double click the glyph, which then appears in the lower right 
corner field;
-- copy then paste where you desire.
