[XeTeX] [tex-live] xelatex crashes with this document

The above was with TL2010 on amd64 (x86-64-linux)

Furthermore, in the log file there are many many 
Missing character: There is no ^^80 in font [lmroman12-regular]:mapping=tex-tex
(for different ^^XX)

When I run it through xelatex of TL2009 (Debian) it gives some errors
but can finish and produces pdf output.
