[XeTeX] Getting completely the wrong glyphs when using characters from Latin Extended B

Right, problem solved.

MiKTeX has copies of gnu freefont in its font dir, and these are 
examined before the system fonts are checked, so it was simply using 
completely the wrong version of FreeSerif. After a strategic rename of 
all .otf and .ttf freefont files in that dir, all is well and the 
correct characters show up.
