[XeTeX] XeTeX, PdfTeX and graphics

Dear Jonathan -- What function do the quotation marks
serve here ?  I have tested both with and without, and
can see no obvious difference, and the reference manual
to which Wolfgang kindly referred me seems to make no
mention thereof (although it does say "This description
is incomplete.").
