Howdy,

This sounds suspiciously like a problem I had after installing 10.6.2 using Software Update. I re-installed the 10.6.2 Update via the Combo-Installer I downloaded from Apple and then did a Safe Boot to clean out ALL system caches. There is a very minor annoyance after a Safe Boot where the first time you open most applications the system ``thinks'' it hasn't been opened before and opens a dialog box. After a short while most everything has gone through that and life is back to normal.
