Oh, I forgot to say that the two diacritics might be the opposite of 
what you desire to see (because of my ignorance) ... in which case, just 
reverse the two \char" insertions. You'll probably have to adjust the 
kerning, too. Of course, you can adjust the kerning even if they're in 
the right order!
