[XeTeX] Ligatures question

Properly, those aren't ligatures, but diphthongs and should be used  
when linguistically appropriate or when specifically trying to achieve  
an ``antique'' effect, but said effect should not rise to the level of  
affectation which will interfere w/ reading the text.
