[XeTeX] Devanagari glyph shaping and several colours

It looks like two different fonts that get used here. So obviously  
this joining won't happen, particularly when glyph shaping is also  
involved. When you are just criticising a gap between the word's  
halves, that are interpreted as different words in TeX (usually you  
don't change the font or a horse in the middle of a word), then you  
can use kerning to stop it. Look at the colour example on page 11 of  
the fontspec manual!

Another, more complicated, option would be to colour the  
background ... (adding another PDF page with translucent colourful  
spots in the right places?)
