This is insulting. You reveal not only your own ignorance about system
administration but also a careless disregard of efforts by others.

Packaging is valuable because it

1) guarantees a standard configuration across many machines,
2) provides the standard configuration with no administrator
intervention (when systems are configured to update themselves.
3) makes changes that can be reversed or eliminated if need be (never
clutters up a file system with unregistered files) ,
4) keeps records on what libraries and other software is required or
assumed, so that users can actually use the desired features
5) packaging simplifies end user access because it is not necessary
for all users to install all of the development software necessary for
the creation of packages.
6) simplifies bug-tracking in large packages

Any 1 of these is sufficient to justify a packaging approach.
