If an actual macro is missing that you require, you can for the moment 
use the newxetexintercharclass.sty from the in-progress package on 
http://pomax.nihongoresources.com/downloads/ucharclasses/ (which I still 
haven't finished, shame on me >_>). It uses the same code the the newer 
XeTeX uses to do automatic class numbering.
