For me there is a small problem using babel with xelatex: since it uses
composed glyphs ({\'\i} for instance) the shape of these accented
letters may look odd in some fonts (Times New Roman being one example).
To solve this issue I had to redefine problematic commands like
\chaptername ("Capítulo"), \contentsname ("Índice") and others after
\begin{document}, which is cumbersome.
Since I am still tied to TeXlive 2007 I can't use polyglossia yet, but I
will be upgrade as soon as possible to get rid of this.
