I was originally going to reject this idea out of hand, but I guess
it's not actually that out of the question. KOMA needs to add the
relevant driver support if it doesn't already, though.

An enterprising soul should create a LaTeX2e++ that bundles together
all of the standard packages into the format itself. (And write a nice
manual, of course!) Would make things much easier.
