Indeed!
The warning is only triggered for

\documentclass{book}
\usepackage[no-math]{fontspec}

and not

\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[no-math]{fontspec}

nor

\documentclass{book}
\usepackage{fontspec}

so there's clearly something here that I need to be investigating.
