Yeah, I assumed an external utility would be used to prepare the
figures. You'd run `svg2xtx myfig.svg` and get "myfig.pdf" and
"myfig.tex", then \include{myfig.tex} would insert the figure in
XeTeX. This could be automated from within XeTeX, though.
This is how Asymptote, for example, creates figures with nice labels
for (La)TeX documents.
This is all hypothetical, but *probably* the easiest way to solve the
problem.
