I think that claim would be found to be true for PostScript files, or
maybe PDF. SVG definitely hasn't been around long enough to be the
most widespread format yet!
Doesn't ConTeXt understand some reasonable subset of SVG? I think the
best way to get SVG in XeTeX would be to convert to PDF while
stripping out the text labels; save their position and get XeTeX to
paste them on top.
