Are you using

	  \usepackage{ifpdf,ifxetex}

or such?

The XeTeX logo is defined in xltxtra package. You can also use

	\ifxetex
	  \immediate\write16{==This is XeTeX==}
	...

to see in console a bit.

Do you see in the LOG file (or in console) which programme is  
running? Are they loading all their packages as they should?
