[XeTeX] Interlinear rtl text

I'm looking for a possible XeTeX solution for typesetting interlinear 
text. The main text will be in Syriac, a right-to-left script, with 
English word-by-word translation beneath. Of course, the English will 
have to run right to left with the Syriac. I can imagine that there must 
be a way of implementing this with boxes or a tabular environment, but I 
can see that automatic new lines are going to be difficult.

In an ideal world, I would like to dump my existing Syriac text into a 
file and simply add my English translations to it, but I can see how 
that might be asking a little too much.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows of an existing method (package etc.) 
for doing this.
