I suspect that's basically what Andrew's package does. With all this
competition, I'd better start working on unicode-math again :) It's a
shame I'm very busy right now...
If anyone is going to write this sort of package, please take a look
at the unicode-math.tex file, which contains the mapping between all
maths unicode characters and TeX macros. Don't want (a) lots of wasted
effort typing out thousands of \XeTeXmathglyph commandsl and (b)
incompatible macro names being used.
