[XeTeX] xelatex and DejaVu Sans

Thats not a solution for me.
1) If i use a "possible path", i cant switch to other system. 
"C:\fonts\DejaVuSans" dont work with Linux.
2) The other way is to store the font in the texmf tree.
But if i want to use the font e.g. with openoffice, i must use a offical 
font path.
3) If i load the font directly xxx.ttf, i must define bold, italic, ... 
extra.

My preferd way is to load the font (with bold, italic, ...) with the 
operatingsystem.
So it is possible, to use the font with tex and other programm e.g. 
openoffice and i can write a package to load the font without knowing, 
where the font is stored in the system.
