I've been rather lax with getting fontspec into the SVN repository,
but this is possible with recent versions of XeTeX:
   +slant=0.2
   +extend=1.2
   +embolden=1.5

Stay tuned and I'll upload a new fontspec soon to support these
features (the version on CTAN, v1.17, is somehow newer than what's in
the SVN repository).
