In System Preferences you have a large number of international  
choices. Put one after the other on top and then launch the keyboard  
viewer from the ð menu bar, marked by a flag symbol, to see how  
different keyboard layouts can be Ð and where the alt/option key puts  
the quotation marks and other characters!
