Well, you should set a reasonable font! Otherwise Computer Modern PK  
fonts are used. Remember: XeTeX is just another TeX!

No! Do you want to make us believe undoing a change damages the TeX  
file? (Besides: TeXShop creates a backup copy <file>~.tex!)
