It should be, AFAIK -- a full path should work for just about any  
kind of file TeX searches for.

You'd probably want to use forward slashes for the directory  
separators, though, as macros are expanded while scanning file names! :)

(who hasn't looked into the AdobeMingStd case yet, hence no comment  
on the original issue!)
