Yeah. Ages ago for fun I tried installing Palatino Linotype in my TeX  
distribution.
The various tools worked well for the Win2k version, but failed with  
the WinXP one.

I don't see it as anything different, on the whole, as Apple's  
removal of various font tables for the fonts it distributes.
