You should follow the instructions for building XeTeX for Linux,
given at the XeTeX web site:

computer:~ jonathan$ tar zxf xetex-0.994a.tar.gz
computer:~ jonathan$ cd xetex-0.994a
computer:~/xetex-0.994a jonathan$ sh build-xetex
computer:~/xetex-0.994a jonathan$ sudo sh install-xetex

Which in your case, given you are already in the TRUNK directory,
should mean running:

sh build-xetex
sudo sh install-xetex

The use of sh will avoid having to make build-xetex and install-xetex
executable first.
