By the way, I've never used Grapher but I notice just now that it  
does have a raw data plot method; In the "Equation" menu: "New Point  
Set", then there's an "Edit..." button in a swath of brushed metal.

It can import/export any sort of delimited plain text data, but as a  
tool it's all fairly crude...
