Just be sure this comes *before* anything that generates printed
output, or else xdv2pdf will complain and the paper size won't take
effect until the next page. So put the \special at the beginning of
your document.
Beware of things like running heads; if you have a \headline (on the
first page), that is output before the page body, so you may need to
insert the papersize \special at the beginning of the headline. (It's
harmless if it gets repeated on every page.)
